According to the legal notice, the purpose of the meeting is to vote on an employment agreement between Luna County and newly selected county manager Ira Pearson.
The commissioners also will vote on extending a temporary salary increase to Assistant County Manager Glory Juarez through what is being called “the Starmax transitional period.”
Pearson has been Starmax’s manager for over three years, and the Deming Headlight reported he would continue to oversee operations at Starmax while serving as county manager. Starmax is owned by Luna County.
Juarez received a five-percent raise to her $70,000 annual salary in April to compensate her for the additional workload while she served as interim county manager.
The meeting will begin at 9 a.m. Monday, June 6th, in the commission chambers, located on the third floor of the Luna County Courthouse.
The special meeting will be open to the public.
