Beginning at 9 a.m. Thursday there will be a work session open to the public at which commissioners and county staff will discuss regular meeting agenda items in an informal setting.
Also at the work session, a representative from the engineering and architectural firm Wilson and Company out of Albuquerque will discuss the Highway 11 Bypass Corridor Study.
Then the regular monthly meeting will follow at 10 a.m.
Included on the agenda is the call for an ordinance to re-impose the Special County Hospital Tax dedicated to ambulance service. The tax, currently being imposed but facing a five-year sunset deadline, will not raise the county’s gross receipts taxes if approved by the commissioners.
Also on the agenda is the appointment of a Luna County Animal Control Ordinance Advisory Committee and travel requests to attend a bond rating meeting in Dallas, Texas, and the National Association of Counties conference in Long Beach, California.
Again, the Luna County commissioners will meet in regular session at 10 a.m. Thursday in the commission chambers, located on the third floor of the Luna County Courthouse.
The open meeting will be followed by an executive – or closed – session to discuss the county manager’s position.
