That’s the message Luna County Manager Charles “Tink” Jackson wants the community to understand, particularly administrators of community programs planning to request funds from the county.
A media release said Luna County staff will soon begin drafting a preliminary budget for fiscal year 2017 to be presented to the county commissioners for review.
Part of that process includes accepting and reviewing proposals from community organizations for funding.
For fiscal year 2016, commissioners budgeted $495,450 in appropriations to community organizations.
During the budget review, Jackson warned commissioners and staff that funds may not be available to make the same appropriations next year.
Those groups seeking funding for the next fiscal year should submit an application by next Friday, March 18th, to jessica_etcheverry@lunacountynm.us or hand deliver it to room A-6 on the third floor of the Luna County Courthouse, 700 South Silver Avenue.
