
The Southwest Information Office of the U-S Bureau of Labor Statistics recently released the County Employment and Wages information for New Mexico.
The local average weekly wage for October through December of last year was $664 with 7,279 people employed.
The same period in 2014 showed $628 for an average weekly wage with 7,274 people employed. That means weekly wages in the fourth quarter of 2015 were up $36 on average over the fourth quarter of 2014 – or up over 5.7 percent.
And the 2014 wage was actually down $3 from the fourth quarter of 2013.
Two of New Mexico’s smaller counties had average weekly wages above the national average in the fourth quarter of 2015: Los Alamos with $1,610, and Eddy with $1,093.
Catron and Sierra Counties had the lowest average weekly wages in the state, at $530 and $564, respectively
