
Luna County’s Shotgun Team placed first in the tough statewide competition, and Zak Speir placed second in the individual standings.
Speir and teammates Jason Lewis, Jonathan Lewis and Mitch Stevens qualified to represent New Mexico at the National 4-H Shooting Sports Competition in Grand Island, Nebraska, this summer.
In the archery compound competition, the local team placed second overall and Mitch Stevens placed fourth individually. Stevens’ teammates were Graham Borden, Tyler Parisi and Stephanie Swope.
And in the small-bore rifle competition, the Luna County team placed third overall, with Keri Hays placing fourth individually and Brannick Sweetser placing fifth. Their teammates were Ty Borden and Warren Shafer.
Also shooting for Luna County in various events were Chris Deardeuff, Jarod Harrington, Michael Morris, Melody Phillips, Tee Pickett, Tel Pickett, Stacey Swope and Monique Willis.
