
Stacy Swope was elected 2016-2017 State 4-H Parliamentarian. Swope also placed fourth in Prepared Public Speaking.
The Luna County Wildlife teams placed first and second in the state competition and swept the individual rankings, with Jarrod Harrington as the high-point individual, Warren Shafer – second-high, Tee Pickett – third-high, Susanna Turner – fourth-high, and Michael Diaz – fifth-high.
The Agronomy team won state and swept the individual rankings as well. Kylan Swinney was high-point in Agronomy, Tee Pickett – second-high, Reid Swinney – third-high, Truett Shafer - fourth-high, and Kari Dominguez – fifth-high.
Truett Shafer was the high-point individual in Entomology judging and received a $500 scholarship to the NMSU Entomology, Plant Pathology, and Weed Science department. Reid Swinney placed third in the individual competition.
And the Range Management Team placed second with Stacy Swope as fourth-high individual and Kylan Swinney as fifth-high.
Coaches assisting with this year’s accomplishments were Jack Blandford, Laynee Kuenstler, Holly Schultz, Susan Swope, and Larry Von Tress.
