
Appreciation plaques were given to volunteers Jennifer Shafer and Teri Pickett, and posthumously to Barbara Brokaw, who served for years as the Luna County Home Economist and who died of cancer earlier this year. Also recognized were Deming Coca-Cola and the Southwestern New Mexico State Fair board.
All five "Friends of 4-H" were selected by the 4-H members to be honored for their various contributions to area youth and the local 4-H program.
During the awards ceremony, local 4-H members were recognized for their project record books, and the 4-H members who are high school seniors were highlighted in a slide presentation for their years with the program.
Also, 4-H families donated items for a silent auction which raised money for scholarships and other activities.
The incoming Luna County 4-H Council officers were inducted as well. The 2013-2014 President is Shelbie Peterson… Vice-President is Raul Perea… Secretary is Annie Kuenstler… Treasurer is Tee Pickett… Reporter is Stacy Swope… and Song and Recreation Leader is Calleigh Sweetser.
