Local breeder Sarah Donaldson-Rioux with Born Running Ranch bred horses that won the All American Derby Sunday and placed second in the All-American Futurity Monday.
In the All-American Derby – a race for three-year-olds – “Too Flash For You” reportedly stormed to a win, leading gate-to-wire under jockey Larry Gamez in the $1.9 million race.
“Too Flash For You” was bred by Donaldson-Rioux, owned by Jim and Michelle Laird and Jose Espinoza, and trained by Wes Giles.
The victory, his fifth from 13 career starts, also guarantees “Too Flash For You” a spot in the starting gate for the $750,000 Champion of Champions, which will be held Dec. 13 at Los Alamitos in Cypress, Calif.
And “Mad About The Moon” came in second in Monday’s All American Futurity, the richest race for two-year-olds in North America.
Donaldson-Rioux was a partner in the breeding of “Mad About The Moon” – a horse owned by David Valdez and trained by Gene Burden.
