A media release said that of the 25 teams that met the criteria to advance to the next level, the Deming High School team was ranked number two.
Team members Brandi Gonzalez, Elijah Hutts, Ryan Larko and David Velez recently placed ninth out of 125 teams assembled for MESA Day at the Las Cruces Convention Center.
In the Prosthetic Arm competition, the team tied for second place.
MESA Day is an annual engineering, math and science competition and provides an opportunity for students to design and build projects, win medals, learn by doing, visit a college campus and interact with each other.
In addition, students get to interact with college students, professors and industry professionals.
The MESA program sponsor at Deming High School is David Jaramillo.
