(Deming) – The man killed by a train early Thursday morning has been identified.
State Police Lieutenant Robert McDonald said the victim was 58-year-old Michael Stanberry.
McDonald said they were able to notify relatives of Stanberry’s in the Tyler, Texas, area.
Stanberry had been living in Deming for several years, but was considered homeless by authorities who responded to incidents involving him over the years.
It appeared Stanberry was attempting to cross the train tracks just north of the gas station off Railroad Avenue at about 1:20 a.m. Thursday when he was struck by the train.
