The local board of directors voted this month to send $1,000 to the Nebraska Farm Bureau, and challenged county farm bureau groups across the state to send what they could in the spirit of neighbors helping neighbors.
The New Mexico Farm and Livestock Bureau newsletter said the state board has matched the donation.
Recent extreme weather – described as a “bomb cyclone” – devastated millions of dollars’ worth of livestock and stored crops in Midwestern states, particularly Nebraska.
Additionally, many farmers are not expected to plant this year as they clear fields of debris and silt.
The Nebraska Farm Bureau established a Disaster Relief Fund at the Nebraska Farm Bureau Foundation to provide emergency aid to farmers, ranchers, and rural communities affected by the storms and flooding.

Individuals may donate as well. Details are available at www.nefb.org.
The Nebraska Farm Bureau Foundation is a 501(c)(3) charitable nonprofit, and donations made to the fund are tax-deductible.
