The U.S. Small Business Administration announced that Luna and seven other New Mexico counties can apply for the loans to help offset economic losses from reduced revenues caused by the drought.
Officials say small, nonfarm businesses, small agricultural cooperatives and most private, nonprofit organizations may qualify for loans of up to $2 million.
Eligibility is based on the financial impact of the disaster, not on any actual property damage.
The deadline to apply for these loans is December 23rd.
The other seven counties are Catron, Dona Ana, Grant, Lincoln, Otero, Sierra and Socorro.
Applicants may apply online using the electronic loan application via the Small Business Administration’s secure website at https://disasterloan.sba.gov/ela.
