Deming Police officials recovered a car sought
by Dona Ana County law enforcement officials in their investigation of an arson after Thanksgiving.
Chief Michael Carillo said his officers were asked to assist after Dona Ana County authorities determined that their “person of interest” may have been hiding out in Deming since the arson.
Carillo said investigators found motel and other charges from Deming appearing on the man’s debit card.
The car, a 2012 Honda Accord, was found abandoned near a convenience store off Cedar Street, after the driver apparently bought a bus ticket out of Deming. Carillo said they towed the car and sealed it as evidence.
