
William Harley Smyer, age 38, was arrested on a Magistrate court warrant for possession of a firearm by a felon and battery against a household member… Monserrat Mendoza, age 57, charged on a Dona Ana Magistrate warrant for failure to pay fines… Govanni Chavez, age 20, arrested for driving with a suspended or revoked license… Adrian Montoya, age 33, arrested on a District court warrant for probation violations… Joshua Hand, age 34, arrested on a Municipal court warrant for failure to appear… Bennie Mercer, age 48, arrested for driving with a suspended or revoked license and no seatbelt… Angelee Preciado, age 35, of Bomach, Texas arrested on a Magistrate warrant for failure to appear… Bruce Flick, age 54, arrested for loitering, drunkenness, and having alcoholic beverages in public places… Victor Urena, age 22, arrested for battery against a household member, criminal damage to property of a household member and two Municipal warrants one for failure to appear, and the other for failure to pay fines… Donnie Rhea, age 47, cited for larceny of less than $100 dollars.
In juvenile reports, A 15 year old boy was cited for resisting, evading or obstructing a police officer and possession of drug paraphernalia… a 14 year old female was cited for resisting, evading or obstructing a police officer… A 14 year old boy was cited for resisting, evading or obstructing a police officer and possession of under an ounce of marijuana… a 16 year old boy cited for battery against a household member… and a 17 year old boy was cited for possession of drug paraphernalia.
In other reports, $200 dollars in criminal damage to property occurred on South Copper Street after a block fence was damaged.
And finally, a 66-year-old Deming man reported several cases of fraud after receiving phone calls demanding money. The first, he was advised he owed the power company $1025.64 cents or his electricity would be shut off. Then he received a second phone call reportedly from the power company stating his generator was wasting too much electricity and he was being fined $378.03 cents and finally, he was called by a person stating to be from the IRS that he owed fines of $259.09 cents, and would be audited if fines were not immediately paid.
Once again, residents are advised never to just automatically make payments to persons over the phone. If you receive a call demanding money, hang up and call the company’s main number directly yourself to see if the bill is true.
