Lime Street… $300 worth of electronic items reported taken from a residence on East 4th Street… And an 83 year old female reported a case of fraud in the amount of $3000. She received a phone call from a man who identified himself as a police officer from Grant County. The caller told the victim that her grandson was in jail and needed $3000 to be released from custody. The victim got 2 $1500 gift cards from Walmart and gave the numbers to the caller. Afterwards, the grandmother called her son to advise him his son had been arrested, and found she had been a victim of fraud. The grandson was never arrested, and was at home the entire time. Police remind local residents no reliable company or organization would take gift cards over the phone. Always use caution and be weary of people calling your home.
