Cancer Support of Deming and Luna County Patient Advocate Joanna Costilla said the Celebration of Life board members selected breast cancer survivor Marsha Edwards and four-year-old Angelina Ortiz, who is battling Retinoblastoma, as this year’s honorees.
The t-shirt color is pink in honor of Edwards.
The Celebration of Life – a fundraiser unique to Deming – has raised tens of thousands of dollars annually to provide transportation and resources for cancer patients in Deming and surrounding areas.
There is no charge to join the walk, and t-shirts are $15.
The event also features food, fun, vendors and prizes.
Again, the 13th annual Celebration of Life Cancer Walk is set for this Saturday, May 5th, from 8 a.m.-noon at Voiers “Pit” Park.
