
(Deming) – Two Luna County 4-H Shooting Sports teams placed in the top 10 of their respective national competitions, and one local youth placed in the top ten in the nation individually.
Brannick Sweetser was the 7th-high individual in the nation in the .22 Small Bore Rifle Competition held last month in Grand Island, Nebraska.
Sweetser and his teammates Keri Hays and Tee Pickett also placed 9th in the national rifle team competition.
The local rifle team was coached by Kenneth McFaul, and Grant and Amber Swinney.
And Luna County’s 4-H Compound Archery Team – the team that won the state competition – placed 10th in the nation. The team consisted of Graham Borden, Ty Borden, Tyler Parisi and Zakery Parisi.
Graham Borden placed 18th-high individually.
The archery team was coached by James Swope and Gina McFaul.
