
Friday marks the last day Border Area will offer most of its services, but the entity will continue some work locally in a limited capacity.
Border Area will still offer its juvenile community corrections service, the DUI offender classes and services to third-party insurers.
The company is looking for a new location in Deming, since La Frontera will be housed in Border Area’s existing location at 901 W. Hickory.
The change in services is a result of alleged audit findings, but local providers expressed concerns over due process during a recent town hall hosted by the Luna Health Council.
Several representatives from Border Area and members of the public voiced concerns over frozen Medicaid payments and how mental health providers around the state have been forced to hand over Medicaid reimbursable services to La Frontera before a process to determine if providers were guilty of fraud.
Representatives from Border Area Mental Health Services have denied any wrongdoing, but said they have been working closely with La Frontera to transition services.
