
Preliminary figures from the New Mexico Department of Workforce Solutions show Luna County with a June unemployment rate of 10.3%, down from the revised May rate of 11.1%, but up from the June 2018 rate of 9.6%.
Luna remained the only county in the state with double-digit unemployment.
The next closest county in unemployment in June was McKinley at 8.4%.
In our area, Hidalgo County had 4.4% unemployment, Grant had 5.3%, and the Las Cruces area had 6.3%.
The county with the least unemployment last month was Eddy at 3.5%.
Unemployment statewide was 4.9% in June – down slightly from May.
The New Mexico labor force estimates show Luna County with a labor force of 11,666 – with 10,470 employed and 1,196 unemployed.
