
Preliminary figures from the New Mexico Department of Workforce Solutions show Luna County with a July unemployment rate of 9.1%, down from the revised June rate of 10.5%, but up from the July 2018 rate of 8.7%.
Luna remained the county with the highest unemployment in the state.
The next closest county in unemployment in July was McKinley at 8.8%.
In our area, Hidalgo County had 5% unemployment, Grant had 5.5%, and the Las Cruces area had 6.4%.
The county with the least unemployment last month was Eddy at 3.8%.
Unemployment statewide was 4.9% in July – unchanged from June.
The New Mexico labor force estimates show Luna County with a labor force of 10,969 – with 9,969 employed and 1,000 unemployed.
