
Incumbent Mayor Benny Jasso, running for a second four-year term, received 650 votes – or 71% of the votes cast in Tuesday’s municipal election.
Challenger Edward Khanbabian received 240 votes – or 26 % of the votes cast, and Shannon Relyea received 24 votes – or 3%.
And the $3 million general obligation bond passed with 619 votes in favor, and 258 against, or 71% in favor to 29% opposed.
Incumbent District 1 Councilor David Sanchez, who ran unopposed for a fourth four-year term, received 134 votes, and incumbent District 4 Councilor Victor Cruz, who ran unopposed for a second four-year term, received 246 votes.
Overall voter turnout was 14.8%, with 914 voters casting ballots of the 6,175 voters who were eligible.
City Administrator Aaron Sera said the election results are unofficial pending Thursday’s canvass.
