Luna County Sheriff’s Captain Kelly Gannaway said 38-year-old Elizabeth Eidinger, who was incarcerated in October for felony possession of over a pound of mercury and concealing her identity, is now being accused of attempting to sell her food stamps for cash while she has been in jail.
Gannaway said the investigation into the food stamp fraud is continuing, and other charges may be filed.
Eidinger was arrested in October at the scene of a homicide at 5335 Columbus Road.
That was the location where deputies, who were called by an out-of-state spouse to check on her husband, found a decomposing body.
Officials with the Office of the Medical Investigator in Albuquerque determined the man, who has yet to be positively identified, died from a stab wound to the throat.
Eidinger claimed to be the property owner where both the body and the mercury were discovered.
