County Manager Kelly Kuenstler said visitation had to be cancelled for security reasons due to areas of the building under construction.
Kuenstler said the county is upgrading security features, replacing the master control board, and replacing a slider door, among other projects.
She said the work was necessary as the facility ages and technology advances, and the approximately $28,000 cost will be paid out of the detention center’s building repair and capital improvement budget.
Kuenstler said the work was being done internally and by the manufacturer of the master control board.
The work is scheduled to be completed Wednesday, and inmate visitation will resume this coming weekend.
