
Incumbent Columbus Mayor Philip Skinner was denied a second four-year term, after challenger Esequiel Salas garnered 174 votes – or 59% of the votes cast, to Skinner’s 119 votes, or 41%.
Incumbent Village Trustee Donald Farber also lost his reelection bid in Tuesday’s municipal election. Challenger Ricardo Gutierrez received 188 votes, or 67% of the votes cast, to Farber’s 94 votes – or 33%, for a two-year term.
Incumbent Trustee William Johnson was the top vote-getter in a four-way race for two four-year seats.
Johnson received 159 votes and Paulino Villegas received 141 votes to capture the two seats.
Challengers Joesph Rivera received 128 votes, and David Pennington received 107 votes.
Overall voter turnout in Columbus was 43%, with 293 voters casting ballots of the 685 voters who were eligible.
