
Deming Police Chief Brandon Gigante said his department was notifed by Cesar Chavez Principal Stan Lyons Saturday that the handgun, described as a Taurus 40-caliber semi-automatic, was found Friday afternoon.
It was not immediately clear who found the weapon on the school property at 315 East First Street.
Gigante said the gun was unloaded, but in good condition.
