
The bus driver, a 56-year-old woman from El Paso, Texas, told officers that a pickup towing another pickup suddenly slowed in front of the bus, and she hit the vehicle in-tow, causing both pickups to leave the roadway. Both pickups were completely destroyed.
The accident happened just after 7 a.m. Sunday about two miles east of Deming.
The pickup driver, a 65-year-old man from Los Angeles, California, was transported to the hospital with minor injuries. He told officers he was towing the pickup from California to Mexico.
The Greyhound bus was travelling from Phoenix to El Paso, and some of the passengers told officers they thought the driver had been falling asleep.
One passenger was transported to the hospital for treatment of diabetes-related health concerns, but no one on the bus was injured in the accident.
