Organizers say this year’s theme is, “Walk around the Park,” and the Health Council is hoping attendees will do just that — walk around Pit Park in between visiting the informational booths and participating in other activities and prize raffles.
The event will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at the park located on North Country Club Road across from Starmax.
The event is free and open to the public.
Over 20 vendors, including home health care businesses, non-profit organizations and social service programs, will set up booths under the covered canopy of the Deming Amphitheater.
The Luna County Parents as Teachers program will have a car seat fitting station set up to ensure your child’s car seat is installed and fit properly.
At 1 p.m., local surgeon and city councilor Dr. Victor Cruz, will hold a live presentation of an ultrasound on the amphitheater stage. He also will be at the fair manning a surgery simulator booth for attendees to see what it is like to perform minimally-invasive surgery.
Various health screenings including eye, blood sugar and blood pressure also will be available.
Attendees with a photo ID will have the opportunity to register for the electronic medical record access system at Mimbres Memorial Hospital’s booth.
And at least six boys and girls bikes in various sizes will be raffled. To enter the bicycle drawings, children will need to visit vendor information booths and walk the park to find clues.
Again… that’s this Saturday from 10-3 at Voiers “Pit” Park.
