City Administrator Aaron Sera said the February Deming City Council meeting will be Franklin’s last. Reportedly, she is moving out-of-state.
Franklin was first elected to the Deming City Council District 2 seat in 2002 to fill a two-year term – the remainder of Rick Holdridge’s term when Holdridge moved out of district.
Franklin was then elected to her first four-year term in 2004, and has been reelected to four-year terms every voting cycle since. Her current term expires in 2016.
Sera said Mayor Benny Jasso is accepting letters of interest from persons wanting to fill the remainder of Franklin’s term. Applicants must live in City Council District 2.
Letters will be accepted in the John Strand Municipal Building on South Gold until close-of-business Thursday.
