Arts Council officials said that Peggy Gooday of Los Angeles, California, will be participating in the April exhibition featuring work of the Fort Sill Apaches.
Gooday, one of eleven artists participating in the exhibition, is the great-great-great-granddaughter of Chief Mangas Coloradas and Chief Loco who joined their bands together by marrying their children, Sethmooda and Bey-it-tsun.
Gooday, a print maker, is creating a Chiricahua Apache narrative, and is currently working on a book of prints titled “The Apache Story Series.”
Gooday also is interested in native basketry and symbolism, and uses those constructs throughout her work.
Gooday and the other artists will attend the artists’ reception April 4th from 1-3 p.m. at the Deming Arts Center, 100 S. Gold Street.
The exhibit will run from April 4th through the 28th.
