FSA has a free, online communications system through the federal government’s electronic news service, GovDelivery.
The system has been operational since November of 2011, but Luna County FSA Director Mackey Irwin said budget constraints are prompting officials to remind producers of the paperless option.
FSA program eligibility requirements, deadlines and related information can be sent via email to homes, farm offices and smart-phones of subscribers to the electronic news service.
Producers can choose to receive federal farm program information by topic, state and/or county.
Officials are asking producers who receive the up-to-date USDA program information online to contact the county FSA office and
opt out of receiving hardcopy newsletters. The option, they say, will help conserve resources and reduce taxpayer expenses associated with the preparation, printing and distribution of the newsletters.
