
Border Partners, a local non-profit organization, is sponsoring activities that include a solar cooking demonstration. Sustainable technologies will be on display including solar water heaters, a solar golf cart and papercrete blocks. Papercrete is a construction material made of re-pulped paper fiber with cement or clay and/or other soil added.
Saturday also be the kick-off for the weekly Palomas Farmers’ and Crafters’ Market, which will feature locally-grown produce and locally-made art and craft items.
The local health promoters – or promotoras – also will be hosting a Health Fair and will offer free health screenings for the public. Free samples of veggie burritos will be served on a first-come first-served basis.
Events this Saturday, April 22nd, will run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the plaza, located one block south and one block west of the Pink Store in Puerto Palomas, Mexico.
