(Deming) - Arroyos and Sheridan take top honors at Great American Duck Race The finals of the Great American Duck Race on Sunday, August 24th paid out almost $2300 in prizes, split equally between the winner on the dry and wet track. The winners on the Wet Track (above left photo) was Alex and Jasmine Sheridan. Pictured are Alex, Jasmine, mom Jennifer Sheridan, and Duck Race Board Member Steve Smith. The pair were presented a check for $1295. When asked what they planned to spend their winnings on, Alex said he "planned to give some to his aunt, and buy some X-Box stuff". Jasmine said she "plans to save the money for something good". Alex is a 5th grader at Memorial Elementary, and Jasmine attends Deming High School. On the Dry Track, the winner was Oscar Arroyos. He too was presented a check for $1295. He said he "plans to share the money with this grandson and son". Pictured are Grandson Sebastian Camacho, his son, who is also Oscar Arroyos, and Duck Race Board member Steve Smith. While there were a "few bumps in the road" this year, overall the 2014 Great American Duck Race was a success.
