(Deming) – The search for a new superintendent of Deming Public Schools has been narrowed to seven candidates – three of whom are local.
Board President Bayne Anderson announced that finalists will be interviewed this month, and said the advertisement is active, meaning they are still accepting applications.
The three local applicants to be interviewed are, alphabetically: Associate Superintendent Mary Lou Cameron, Bilingual Education Director Michael Chavez and Student Services Director Ray Trejo.
The out-of-district finalists are: Raymond Arsenault of Minnesota, a retired educator who served as superintendent of Gallup-McKinley Schools; Israel Hernandez Carrera, who currently is superintendent of Jal Public Schools; Daniel Lere, who is an adjunct faculty member for Colorado State University and previously served as superintendent of Pueblo County Schools in Colorado; and Duncan Ware, who is presently the superintendent for the Delta/Greely School District in Alaska.
The successful applicant will replace Harvielee Moore, who is retiring in June.
