School officials said elementary students participating will start school on July 2nd, adding 25 days of instruction to the standard school year. The regular school year will begin August 13th.
During the K-5 Plus program, all school services, including busing and meals, will be provided to students.
The theme for the extra 25 days of instruction is “Full STEAM Ahead,” with a curriculum that integrates science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematical activities for guiding student inquiry, dialogue, and critical thinking.
There will be opportunities for non-K-5 Plus teachers to partner and assist with planning, and for older youth to mentor in the elementary schools during the program.
For more information, contact your student’s elementary school or call the district academics office at 546-8841.
