Beginning this school year, the operative statutory provision directs schools participating in the National School Lunch Program with a free/reduced percentage of 85 percent or greater to offer a breakfast at no charge to each student after the instructional day has begun.
Proponents say the benefits of Breakfast after the Bell include ensuring that students have access to a healthy breakfast every day at school, helping combat childhood hunger, increasing the number of children eating breakfast at and on school days, increasing the consumption of nutritious foods, improving academic performance by preparing children to learn, and improving the overall health of children in the state.
Deming school breakfast and lunch menus from the DPS Student Nutrition Department are available online on your child’s school page through the district website: www.demingps.org.
