County Manager Kelly Kuenstler said in a media release that the original tile installation in Starmax was never completed properly and that grout and residue left on the tile have been collecting dirt for four years.
Kuenstler said that County Commissioner Jay Spivey contacted Deming School Superintendent Harvielee Moore who contacted Construction Trades Class teacher George Wertz about using the project to teach students about proper building techniques and what to do if a project isn’t done correctly.
The students reportedly are working two hours a day until they finish the seven bathrooms at Starmax.
