Deming/Luna County MainStreet Executive Director Chris Stevens said they are in the planning process and are having an open-door vendor meeting in an attempt to get feedback and ideas.
Stevens said they need to decide on hours and a start date, among other items.
Last year, the MainStreet Farmers Market was open every Saturday during the growing season, and averaged approximately 16 vendors a week.
MainStreet officials hope to double the number of vendors this year, and are looking for antiques, crafts, face painters, entertainers and others, in addition to plant, produce and herb vendors.
Stevens said attending this farmers market is a community activity – a place to take your family and find gifts as well as produce.
The open-door vendor meeting is set for this Wednesday at 4 p.m. in the Transportation Room of the Deming Luna Mimbres Museum, 301 S. Silver. Anyone interested is encouraged to attend.
