Deming officials applied for funds for Cedar Street sidewalk enhancements, and were awarded $550,455.
The funds come from the Federal Highway Administration and are administered by the New Mexico Department of Transportation.
The funding is provided for community-based projects that reportedly expand travel choices and improve the cultural, historic, and environmental aspects of the state’s transportation system.
Deming’s just over half-million dollar grant is part of more than $11 million awarded to 27 projects across the state for the 2016 and 2017 fiscal years.
