The teen was booked into the Luna County Detention Center for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and unlawful carrying of a deadly weapon onto school premises after he brandished a folding knife and threatened a teacher in a classroom in the Hofacket building of DHS near the end of the school day Tuesday.
New Mexico State Police Sergeant Ricky Herrera said the teacher saw the knife and tried to talk to the teen, who then unfolded the knife and aggressively approached the female teacher, asking her if she were threatening him.
The teacher told officials she felt threatened by the student.
Herrera said the student admitted to having two knives with him at school Tuesday.
The weapons charges were approved by the District Attorney’s office.
