minutes Tuesday morning after a parent left a message threatening action at a school.
State Police Lieutenant Robert McDonald said a parent of an elementary-aged child left a message on an answering machine connected to the state Children, Youth and Families Department expressing his unhappiness and saying he was –quote— “going to cause a ruckus” at a school.
McDonald said the initial information they received was that the man left a more aggressive threat on the message, which prompted State Police officers to notify school officials and city and county law enforcement officers.
As a precaution, area schools were locked down until State Police could assess the threat.
McDonald said the father was found, the message was reexamined and the response was downgraded after officers felt there was no longer an immediate threat of action. McDonald said officers are continuing to investigate.
