Two seats are up for election this cycle: District One, currently held by Ron Wolfe, and District Two, currently held by John Sweetser.
Wolfe indicated he will run for a second term. Sweetser said he will not run for re-election since he was elected to the Luna County Commission last month.
Declarations of candidacy and a sworn statement of intent must be filed with the Luna County Clerk's office between the hours of 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. on Tuesday, December 20th.
Questions about district boundaries should be directed to the county clerk's office.
The election will be held Tuesday, Feb. 7th, 2017.
County Clerk Andrea Rodriguez said voting locations that day will be the county’s three voting convenience centers: the Mimbres Valley Learning and Special Events Center, 2300 E. Pine; Holy Family Parish Hall, 615 S. Copper; and Columbus Village Library, 112 W. Broadway.
Only voters in School Board Districts One and Two will be eligible to vote.
Voter registration closes January 10th.
