The release from DPS Human Resources Director Denise Ruttle confirmed that local law enforcement officials were working with the school district to investigate the matter.
Ruttle said school officials continue to prioritize academics and student safety, and asked that all students and parents report any suspicious activity to a teacher, administrator or police officer, or to the main office at the high school.
Ruttle confirmed information released from Police Captain Alex Valdespino that officers were patrolling Deming High School this week for added security as a precaution.
Ruttle said schools were not on lock-down and that the school day was continuing as normal.
She advised parents and interested community members to continue to check the District website for updates and additional information.
