Superintendent Dr. Arsenio Romero said the district was looking forward to an “amazing” school year after the implementation of state-sanctioned K-5 Plus and extended school year initiatives over the summer.
Romero said the districtwide rollout of summer school offerings was in response to parents requesting more school opportunities for their students.
He is encouraging parents to give feedback on the summer opportunities, which state education officials hope will close the achievement gap for New Mexico students – particularly students in identified “at risk” populations of minorities, English-language learners, and low-income families.
Calendars for the 2019-2020 school year are available on the school district’s website: www.demingps.org.
Again, the first day of school in the Deming district is Tuesday, August 13th.
Questions about the first day of school should be directed to the individual school site.
