Deming Police Chief Brandon Gigante said his officers will be involved in increased patrols in high traffic areas of the city as part of the department’s effort to enforce driving laws.
Officers reportedly will be looking for drivers who are speeding, not properly using seatbelts or child restraints, texting while driving, and committing any other traffic violations, but will focus primarily on DWI offenders.
Gigante said the officer overtime required by the saturation patrols is funded through an ENDDWI grant awarded through the New Mexico Department of Transportation.
