the finishing touches on the second of two city dog parks.
The new two-acre park is located off Raymond Reed Boulevard, across from the soccer fields, and consists of two fenced areas – one for small dogs and one for large dogs.
Assistant City Administrator Aaron Sera said water conservation was taken into consideration with the new dog park, which is covered with crusher fines – a type of gravel that reportedly is easy on a dog’s paws while the dog is running and
playing.
Some trees have been planted for shade, and running water has been installed to provide drinks for thirsty dogs.
The new dog park is in addition to the dog park off Granite Street at E.J. Hooten Park. That dog park has two separate fenced areas – again, one for large dogs
and one for small dogs. The Granite Street park has an abundance of shade trees and also provides water.
Sera said they considered public input when planning the dog parks and the response from the public has been extremely positive.
