Principal Janean Garney said the students will be receiving Lenovo 11e Yoga, a device that functions as a laptop, but with a screen that can fold over onto itself to become a tablet, or set into a tent position to enable ease of viewing and still have room on a desk or table for note-taking.
Garney said teachers have been attending trainings since January to prepare for changes to their classroom lessons to include more technology, both at school and at home.
And the technology center has worked during summer break to have the devices ready for students to pick up next week.
Garney said all Deming High School students in grades 9-12 need to bring the signed parent-student notebook computer use agreement form which was mailed home in the July newsletter, along with the $30 user fee, to pick up their device.
The $30 user fee will cover things that are not included under insurance such as damage to power cords, loss or theft.
Pick-up times are set for next Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, August 4th, 5th and 6th, from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. in the DHS main lobby.
