(Deming)--The Deming Elks Lodge presented a $500 check to the "Devils", a registered USSSA Baseball team for travel ball. All players are under 11. The team is also registered in the Southwest Baseball league in El Paso. All of these boys play in the local Deming Little League. The funds for this check came from a portion of a Gratitude Grant, a grant from Grand Lodge (National Headquarters) available to local Lodges for community improvement projects. The team most recently placed 2nd at the Cinco de Mayo baseball tournament held in Rio Rancho amongst 14 teams, and will be playing at the state tournament June 13-16 to qualify for the world series tournament in Las Cruces on July 2-6. The "Devils" currently are in 2nd place in team standings in the El Paso league with three more games left.
