With that pledge in mind, the Deming Elks Lodge has a new project – the Elks’ "Path of Honor” – where local residents can remember, with an engraved brick, anyone who has served our country.
Elks’ Veterans Committee Chairman Manuel Giron said the commemorative bricks, engraved with a service man or woman’s name and unit, will comprise the "Path of Honor" in the courtyard behind the Elks Lodge at 3401 Raymond Reed Blvd.
Each brick has space for up to three engraved lines.
The bricks are being sold for $50 each and payment is due upon ordering. Proceeds from the sale will go to support various Elks’ veterans’ projects.
Multiple bricks are available to recognize more than one family member.
Anyone interested in purchasing a brick should contact Giron at the Elks Lodge, 546-2799, or email dave_johnson@demingelks.org. The project is open to non-Elks as well as Elks. A dedication will be held in the future.
Also, the Elks Lodge is planning a free dinner for all area veterans and a guest on Saturday, November 15th.
And if you are a veteran in need of services, please contact the Lodge because both local and state funds are available to help those in need.
