
The donation was made possible through a grant from the national trust fund, the Elks National Foundation.
The Lodge decided to purchase the vest after discussing the need to protect not only law enforcement officers, but also their animal counterparts in the field. The vest is rated as both bullet and stab proof at a cost of about $1000.
The vest was accepted by Ernie Holguin, and his partner "Rambo" with the Correctional Facility.
Deming Local President George Torres said the "Lodge is proud to be able to help such a worthy cause".
