This year’s logo features a duck clad in racing attire, waving a checkered flag and seated in a race car with the number “34” on it, to signify the 34th annual duck race.
The top of the logo is encircled with the words, “Great American Duck Race,” with “Deming, NM” to the left of the car and “2013” to the right. The logo is finished with this year’s theme – “Racing through the Years” – at the bottom.
The logo was a combined effort of Karl Bennett, Angel Caballero and Nancy Blakey with Karl’s Embroidery in Deming.
Bennett has been associated with the duck races for over 10 years, and has been responsible for the screen-printed retail t-shirts and embroidered staff and sponsor shirts and caps in the past.
The duck races are the fourth weekend in August – starting Thursday, August 22nd and running through Sunday, August 25th. The motor sports theme will be used for judging in both the Duck Royalty Pageant Thursday night and the Tournament of Ducks Parade Saturday morning.
Again, this year’s Great American Duck Race will be held August 22nd-25th.
